Thai-Russian Business Council (T-RBC) was officially set up on 30 November 2007, with the approval of The Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB), including the Board of Trade of Thailand, the Federation of Thai Industries and the Thai Bankers' Association.

The objective of the establishment on the Thai-Russian Business Council is to be the mechanism to promote collaboration between Thailand and the Russian Federation, in terms of trade and investment, tourism, services, finance and banking, logistics, technology and education. Furthermore, this kind of cooperation may extend to other countries within the Commonwealth Independent States such as Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Accordingly, this has resulted in expanding more trade among Thailand, the Russian Federation and other countries within the Commonwealth of Independent States. It will also strengthen the closer relationship between these countries.

To follow this objective, the T-RBC has planned to hold the executive committee meeting in every 2 months. The role of the executive committee is to follow up the operation of the working committee, tackle difficulties made by the members and create activities that benefit to all the members. The committee includes private businessmen and government official from the Department of Trade Negotiations, the Department of Export Promotion, the Department of European Affairs, the Customs Department, the office of the Board of Investment and the Export-Import Bank of Thailand.

In order to develop concrete cooperation which leads to the expansion on trade and investment and the strengthening of relations of Thailand and the Russian Federation, the invitation has been made to those interested to be a member of the T-RBC.

Finally, I do hope that the T-RBC will contribute to create the growth of the economics of our countries, through the international trade between the two sides, and other relations that will benefit to each other.
